Chair Series Chair Series
The chairs I've painted are "people" to me--displaying emotions and attitudes--bravado, serenity, strength. The series started as a tribute to the resilience of my Depression-era family members but quickly extended beyond that small group. Like people, the chairs in my paintings are quirky and imperfect but their imperfections only make them more interesting and unique.

Assemblages Assemblages
In the found object assemblages that I create I use common items to symbolize piecing together a workable life from whatever is at hand.  I often use small glass bottles, household tools, and wood since I find these materials both mysterious and familiar at the same time. The used quality of the things I combine represent the personal history and experience built throughout a lifetime.
